Erdogan opens the largest mosque in the Balkans

"The Netanyahu administration has once again proven that it has no intention of establishing peace in the region by attacking Lebanon," Erdogan said, adding that it was everyone's moral obligation to confront what he called "Israeli state terrorism."

Tirana's Grand Mosque, also known as the Namazga Mosque, is one of the largest in the Balkans.

Turkey is a strategic partner of Albania and one of its biggest investors, contributing to the development of infrastructure and other sectors.

Construction of the new mosque began in 2015 with about 30 million euros ($34 million) from the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet).

In addition to the four minarets, the Namazga Mosque has a central dome that is 30 meters high and has a capacity for 8,000 people. It is located on a 10,000 square meter plot of land near the Albanian Parliament, and a cultural center is located on the first floor. Its capacity allows 10,000 people to pray. | BGNES
