Dozens of children with severe fractures from dangerous TikTok game in North Macedonia

At least 20 children, in Skopje alone, have been injured by a disturbing challenge/game that went viral on the social network TikTok, reports BGNES.

In the so-called "Superman" challenge, toddlers and teenagers imitate "Superman" by bouncing off the outstretched arms of their peers in the air and then have to land on their feet. All of this is captured on video and uploaded to the platform. However, the "game" left several children with broken bones. The youngest of them is just 8 years old. What happens is that the children deliberately make their peer fall, hit the ground and injure themselves, sometimes causing severe fractures.

Shockingly, most of the cases are reported in schools, and parents are extremely worried. There is a similar problem in other Balkan countries such as Greece and Romania.

Several countries around the world are considering restricting access to such harmful social networking trends and, in some of them, banning TikTok altogether.

Such calls are already being heard in North Macedonia against the irresponsible and uncontrolled distribution of content on the internet.

The Ministry of Information Society and Administration said it is monitoring the situation, but says there is no evidence of TikTok being used to commit crimes, which would be a prerequisite for its ban under the country's legislation. | BGNES
