Romania's pro-Western Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, seen as the winner of the presidential vote, has dropped out of the race, almost full results show.
Ciolacu was in third position with 19.16% of the vote in the November 24 election after 99% of the votes were counted.
Pro-Russian candidate Calin Giurgescu was in first position with 22.94% of the ballots, followed by Elena Lasconi, a centre-right mayor of a small town from the Union for the Salvation of Romania party.
Lasconi came in second, according to data from the Permanent Electoral Authority when 99% of the protocols were centralised, cited by Aggerpress.
These figures show that she garnered 1 769 483 votes, while Ciolacu received 1 769 049 votes. | BGNES
