Bulgarian man brutally murders his wife in Tremithousa

A 48-year-old Bulgarian man has been arrested for the brutal murder of his 41-year-old wife Petya Krateva in Tremithousa, Cyprus.

The tragic incident took place at around 10:00 AM during a violent argument and knife attack that resulted in Krateva being pushed or falling from the balcony of their apartment, Cypriot media reports.

On arrival at Paphos general hospital, Krateva was pronounced dead. Her husband, who was also injured, is under police guard at the hospital and is not in critical condition.

Neighbors said they had difficulty contacting police during the altercation, which led to a delay in law enforcement response. A local resident attempted to call police four times without success. Paphos police chief Nikos Tsapis said an investigation into the police response was ongoing.

Police spokesman Christos Andreou mentioned that two knives were found at the scene and are now part of the investigation.

Authorities revealed that the suspect had a history of domestic violence, with an arrest warrant out for him from a previous assault on Krateva.

Krateva was stabbed four times with a knife, and probable defensive wounds were found on her hands.

Police are currently conducting a murder investigation and details are still being sorted out.

Any issues related to police response times will be thoroughly investigated, assured Nikos Tsapis. | BGNES
