The terminal in the Greek port of Alexandroupolis/Dedeagach received on 3 October the first delivery of liquefied natural gas since it was put into operation on 1 October, reports BGNES.
The delivery is to Bulgaria and is being carried out by the French company Total. It supplies gas from Norway.
Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov said it was a "historic moment". He stressed that the commissioning of the terminal is a guarantee for the energy independence not only of Bulgaria, but also of Southeast Europe.
Thanks to the supply of non-Russian gas, the Bulgarian economy will become more competitive and independent, and households will have heat in winter, the Bulgarian energy minister added.
Minister Malinov said that our efforts in the field of diversification of natural gas supplies are highly appreciated by the US and the Euro-Atlantic community.
