Brussels splits Albania and North Macedonia, Tirana set to begin EU talks

EU permanent representatives unanimously agreed to start membership negotiations with Albania.

This decision was taken during their meeting in Brussels today, BNR reports.

Diplomatic sources in Brussels indicate that this means separating Albania's process from that of North Macedonia.

The talks will formally begin on 15 October at the EU-Albania intergovernmental conference in Luxembourg, starting with Cluster 1 "Fundamental Issues". | BGNES
