Serbia pretends to be moving towards a Euro-Atlantic future, but in fact it has chosen Russia and Iran as its allies. Serbia is taking the European Union's money and laughing in its face.
This is what Alicia Kearns, chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the UK Parliament, said in an interview with Voice of America.
She called for a general change in the West's policy towards Serbia.
"Washington and Brussels need to end their own illusion that Serbia is working towards a Euro-Atlantic future. Serbia is laughing in their face and taking EU money," the British MP said.
She stressed that the approach of the two countries in relation to Kosovo-Serbia relations should be fair and balanced.
"The current treatment of Kosovo is unfair, unbalanced and wrong. Serbia needs to be warned that it will face consequences for its actions," Kearns said, accusing Belgrade of smuggling weapons into northern Kosovo through the Serbian Orthodox Church.

"Colleagues who observed the elections said they had never seen such appalling abuses of the electoral process," Kearns said.
She was among the signatories of the letter that European and US parliamentarians sent to administrations in Washington and Brussels last summer. It asked for a tightening of policy towards Serbia and a softening of policy towards Kosovo. /BGNES
