Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received a letter from US President Joe Biden on the occasion of Serbia's national holiday (Statehood Day on February 15).
It states that the US supports the country's path to EU accession and remains committed to helping strengthen democratic institutions to achieve this goal, the press office of the Serbian presidency said.
"Building a more successful and stable Western Balkans is in the interests of both the United States and Serbia, and in the coming year I look forward to making progress toward that goal by strengthening regional energy security and expanding our economic ties. Our armed forces continue to serve side by side in the Sinai, strengthening regional peace and security. Serbia's participation in UN and EU peacekeeping missions has also been critical to maintaining stability in other parts of the world. The United States also appreciates the support, which Serbia rendered to Ukraine in defense of its sovereignty and territorial integrity when it was faced with Russia's brutal invasion," the letter said.
"I also encourage Serbia to continue last year's progress in the EU-brokered dialogue with Kosovo. The normalization and implementation agreement represents a key step towards a more peaceful and successful future for Serbia, the region and Europe," stressed Joe Biden. /BGNES
