Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric expressed gratitude to Greece for its support to Belgrade's European integration.
Djuric visited Athens on 18 December, where he held a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Serbian politician noted that Serbia's accession to the EU would strengthen the positions of both countries.
"Serbia highly appreciates Greece's consistent and constant support for the implementation of its strategic commitment and foreign policy priority - full EU membership," Djuric was quoted as saying by the Serbian Foreign Ministry.
He explained that Serbia "appreciates Greece's clear position in support of the opening of Cluster 3" in the EU accession negotiations and added that "without clear progress of Serbia and other candidate countries from the Western Balkans on the path to the EU, there are no sure guarantees for stability in the region".
Marko Djuric specifically thanked Greece for supporting Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, adding that Serbia supports Greece's territorial integrity on land, at sea and in the air, including on the islands in the Aegean Sea.
The Serbian foreign minister stressed that "the traditionally close relations between the two countries and the two peoples constitute a strong incentive for further strengthening bilateral relations", and specified that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's personal relations with Mitsotakis make the ties between the two countries special. | BGNES
