Belgrade publishes all documentation on Novi Sad train station tragedy

The government of Serbia today decided to publish all documents related to the tragedy in Novi Sad, reports BGNES.

On 1 November, 15 people were killed when a shed at the station collapsed and two others are still in critical condition. The station had undergone extensive and lengthy renovations before the incident.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced the impending decision yesterday, 11 December.

"All the documentation that we found, everything that the prosecution has, will be made available to the public ... and will be published within 24 hours," Vucic promised.

The first of the published documents is from 20 February 2015. Their total number is expected to reach 195.

BGNES recalls that the deaths of the 15 people led to protests of many thousands both in Novi Sad and Belgrade. Tens of thousands protested against the corrupt practices of the authorities and the refusal of the government of Milos Vucevic and President Aleksandar Vucic to take responsibility.
