Antonio Costa, the new president of the European Council, will host the leaders of the six Western Balkan countries on 3 December in Brussels.
Costa wants to send a signal that in his work he will consider the Western Balkans region as one of his priorities and that he wants to have regular relations with the leaders of the region.
One of the topics of the talks will be preparations for the EU-Western Balkans summit, which is scheduled for 18 December in Brussels. According to Radio Free Europe, the dinner will be attended by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kalas and Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.
The summits between the EU and the "six" Western Balkan countries have now become regular and are held at least once a year. The new President of the European Council is expected to continue this tradition.
