The leaders of the EU and the Western Balkans will hold a summit in Brussels on December 13, one year after the forum in Tirana, reported BGNES.
The summit is an opportunity to reaffirm the perspective of the Western Balkans' membership in the EU, as well as the need for sustainable and irreversible reforms, in view of the values and principles of the EU.
Spanish Secretary of State for European Affairs Pascual Navarro stressed the importance of the upcoming talks after the EU General Affairs Council.
The main topics of the discussion will be deepening the political and engagement with the Western Balkans, bringing the partners of the region closer to the EU and moving forward with gradual integration, as well as building an economic foundation for the future and mitigating the impact of Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, strengthening security.
"The summit will be an opportunity to discuss coordinated action on security issues that have become even more relevant in the context of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, including combating information manipulation and improving collective cyber security," the European Council said.
The political representatives of the Western Balkans and the EU will sign a common position after the end of the meeting. /BGNES
