Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama's demand that Tirana be separated from Skopje on the path to EU membership has been widely reported by the Albanian press, BGNES reports.
On 17 February, Rama was one of the speakers in the panel discussion "Balkans in Focus" on the sidelines of the 60th Munich Security Conference. The discussion also featured Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski, Montenegrin President Jakov Jakov Milatović and U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
"PM Rama hopes Albania will be separated from North Macedonia in European journey towards full EU membership," the Albanian Post reports. The paper notes that the prime minister says his country has been unable to take the next step towards the bloc in a package with North Macedonia and therefore a change is needed.
"Prime Minister Rama wants Albania and North Macedonia to no longer be a 'pair' on the path of European integration, as it was before," announces the Tetovasot.
"Rama from Munich: I hope to break away from North Macedonia," INA-ONLINE informs.
"From Munich, Germany, where the Security Conference is being held, Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed hope that our country will be separated from our neighbor in the process of European integration," the media outlet wrote.
RTSH 24 published the story with the headline "Rama: I hope Albania's path to the EU is no longer linked to North Macedonia".
"Rama debates EU and jokes with Greece", reports Shqip.
The news website quoted the Albanian prime minister as saying at the conference that "delaying the European integration of the region is the best fuel for nationalism".
"Edi Rama jokes with Turkish coffee in Germany," Albanian TV channel TV Klan reports.
The article points out that after the intergovernmental conferences there is still no progress in the European integration of the region.
Gazeta Shqip headlined the report, "Is Greece an obstacle on Albania's EU path? Rama answered: We love them!".
