Albania will open a new cluster in the negotiations with the European Union on Tuesday, 17 December.
The delegation led by Prime Minister Edi Rama will take part in the third Intergovernmental Conference with the European Union in Brussels, where the sixth Cluster "External Relations" will be opened, reports RCE. It covers issues related to foreign, security and defence policy.
Albania has received approval from the ambassadors of the EU member states. The country respects the common foreign and security policy of the Union.
The 17 December conference follows the previous one held in Luxembourg in October.
BGNES recalls that Albania's progress towards EU membership was tied to North Macedonia, but the two countries have recently been divided because Skopje is not fulfilling agreed conditions.
Despite the challenges, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is optimistic, noting that he expects the negotiation process to be completed by 2027 and Albania to become a full member of the European Union by 2030 | BGNES
