Albania and the North Macedonia underlined the key importance of Corridor 8

"The construction of roads, energy and rail connectivity within Corridor 8 must continue to increase the exchange of people, goods and services. This will ensure a better connection between countries and citizens, as a prerequisite for economic progress of the region as a whole."

This was stated by the Albanian President Bajram Begaj at a meeting with the Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament Afrim Gashi, BGNES reported.

Begaj is in Skopje, within the framework of the Summit of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP).

In the direction of further deepening the cooperation between North Macedonia and Albania, as well as between all the countries of the region, the head of state of Albania emphasized that infrastructure projects should be a priority.

Gashi and Begaj said that North Macedonia and Albania maintain excellent neighborly relations and sincere friendship, although "there is always room for even more intensive bilateral and regional communication, as well as in the process of integration into the European Union."

"Our two countries have always had common goals to which we are moving together," said the Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament, recalling that years ago North Macedonia faced an obstacle on the way to NATO, where it is now a full member. In this context, Afrim Gashi expressed hope that Skopje and Tirana will continue to progress together on the path to the EU and that they will become full members on the same day.

The President of Albania noted that the reforms undertaken by both countries in connection with European integration are not only for the realization of the EU criteria, but above all for the development of the countries and for achieving benefits for the citizens.

"As bearers of public functions, we must focus on the present and creating a better future in order to leave a developed and prosperous region to the new generations," emphasized Begaj. | BGNES
